In short

A saxophonist can play solo over backing tracks for a cocktail hour or dinner, or join a DJ to play live over the dance set. Onstage books both from a roster of 1,500+ vetted performers. A corporate DJ who also hosts typically costs $1,200 to $4,500, and the sax is quoted on top. Onstage is based in Phoenix, has booked entertainment since 2011, and books nationwide.

Formats

What does a saxophonist play at a corporate event?

Solo sax for cocktail hour

One player over backing tracks at conversation volume. Guests can talk, and the room still feels like an event.

Sax during dinner

Softer jazz, soul, and pop melodies while plates are served. The volume stays under the table talk.

DJ + live sax

The DJ runs the dance set and the saxophonist plays live over chosen songs. It gives the dance floor a performer to watch.

One player, two jobs

The same saxophonist plays the cocktail hour solo, then joins the DJ when dancing starts. One booking covers the whole night.

Sax for awards and walk-ups

A live sax line under award walk-ups, toasts, or a product reveal adds a moment without a full band.

Sax with a band

If you already have a band, a featured saxophonist can sit in for part of the night. We coordinate it with the bandleader.

Dance floor

How does a DJ and sax set work?

The DJ controls the music, the volume, and the flow of the night. The saxophonist plays live on top of selected tracks, usually the songs where a horn line lifts the room. Between those features the DJ keeps the floor moving on their own.

Before the event, the DJ and the sax player agree on which songs get live sax and when the features land. You can send must-play and do-not-play lists, and we pass them to both performers so the set fits your crowd.

A DJ + sax set works well for groups from a small client dinner up to a ballroom, as long as the room has space for both performers near the dance floor and power for the DJ setup.

Pricing

How much does a DJ with live saxophone cost?

A DJ who also hosts typically costs $1,200 to $4,500 for a corporate event. Larger production, with added lighting or sound for a big room, can run up to $6,000. The saxophonist is quoted on top of the DJ, based on the date, how many hours they play, and whether they also cover the cocktail hour or dinner.

We quote the DJ and the sax together once we know your date, venue, and schedule. Our holiday party entertainment page covers December dates, which book up first.

Where it fits

Which events suit a DJ and sax?

Company and holiday parties

Cocktail-hour sax, then DJ + sax once the floor opens.

Galas and fundraisers

Solo sax during arrivals and dinner keeps the program elegant. The DJ + sax set takes over after the speeches.

Resort evenings

Poolside sax for a sunset reception or a DJ + sax set for a group dinner on the lawn.

Country club nights

Members get a live performer without the footprint of a full band, which suits many club ballrooms and patios.

Frequently asked questions.

Can a saxophonist play without a DJ? expand_more
Yes. A solo saxophonist plays over backing tracks through a small sound system and needs no DJ. That setup suits cocktail hours, dinners, and receptions where guests still need to hear each other.
Does the sax play during every song in a DJ set? expand_more
No. The DJ runs the music all night and the saxophonist plays live over selected songs, often the high points of the set. The two plan those features before the event so the live moments land where the crowd is most into it.
Can one saxophonist cover the cocktail hour and the dance set? expand_more
Yes. Many events book one player to perform solo during cocktails and dinner, then join the DJ when dancing starts. Onstage builds that into one schedule and one contract.
How soon should we book a DJ and sax in Phoenix? expand_more
Booking a DJ and a saxophonist means two calendars have to line up, so earlier helps. Aim for 90 to 120 days out for a big party or a busy date; a smaller or off-peak event often comes together with 30 to 60 days' notice. For a December company party, start the search in the mid-September to mid-November window.
Where do you find a saxophonist near me if my event is outside Phoenix? expand_more
Onstage is based in Phoenix but books across the country from a roster of 1,500+ vetted performers. For an event outside Arizona we look for a player in or near your city first and arrange travel when the right fit is farther away.
Will we see video of the sax player and DJ before we sign anything? expand_more
Yes. We reply within one business day, and your shortlist arrives within 48 hours with performance video in a private client portal. Nothing is booked until you choose.
